Dads love to learn – a Newsletter subscription is a great way to give them what they didn't know they needed.

Michael Williams writes a substack newsletter called A Continuous Lean that focuses on styles, watches, menswear, fatherhood, golf… he’s got range. Last week he was in Boston and wrote a few hundred words on a familiar menswear store and included his review of Pinocchio’s pizza in Cambridge. He’s played a role in this industry for a decade plus and I proudly subscribe to his substack and enjoy reading his newsletters. A substack subscription is a great gift because it is super enjoyable and it’s not a thing. It’s more of a service than a product. Other substacks to consider in the menswear / fashion / style area: Articles of Interest, and Sprezza.

A Great T-Shirt from a New Brand

My friend Kyle Rancourt of Rancourt (see below) has created a new apparel start up called Pinebury. He is making long sleeve, short sleeve, and cycling jerseys out of merino wool from New Zealand. I bought a new bike recently and bought one of his long sleeve merino tees for my rides. I was blown away with how nice it is and how well it works. It wicks all the sweat off your body – magical – and the fabric is next-to-skin soft. Wears easily, anytime, and not just as cycling or activewear.

Candles... Believe it or not

Our friend David DiLorenzo started a candle brand called Dilo Studio and now has his own candle factory in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia. He recently introduced perfume to his growing armada. His scents are elite – and they’re his, hand poured, and without the help of a branding agency or a private label candle maker. Admittedly I'm not a candle guy, but his candles smell so good that I like having them around just to smell them and then put them down again. But my employees who do actually burn candles speak highly of the scents when candles are actually lit.
