Hi everyone,
This may come as a surprise since I’ve never walked down the aisle myself, but boy, do I love wedding season. It may seem like an event a bachelor, like myself, wouldn’t be interested in but what can I say? I do have at least one romantic bone in my body.
Unsurprisingly enough, my favorite part of any ceremony is the fashion, and I’ve always found it interesting that only the bride has a traditional rhyme that details what she should wear on the big day.
For those of you that didn’t know, ‘the something old, something new’ tradition is an Old English rhyme that brides commonly follow for good luck on their wedding day. While something old is to provide protection for any children to come, something new offers optimism for the future of the happy couple, a borrowed item –from another happy couple– offers good luck and my favorite, something blue, is to symbolize purity.
I’ve seen many brides take the ‘something blue’ to some pretty creative heights. A streak in the hair, nail polish, even jewelry, but my personal favourite has to be when the groom is decked out in a blue suit.
I may not be heading down the aisle any time soon but if I was, I would definitely do it up in a blue suit.
