I recently purchased the youth attack pant for my 12-year-old son to accompany me on his first dall sheep hunt in Alaska. We experienced every weather condition imaginable. Except for warmth and sunshine! Heavy rain, sleet, hail and 2 inches of snow. The pants performed exceptionally well. He told me they blocked the wind very well but the hip vents allowed him to cool down on long climbs. He really liked the brushed interior which felt comfortable. The DWR shed the precipitation and made it easy to brush off mud. Coupled with the KUIU scree gator they worked great! I especially liked the adjustable waist which allowed him to wear the pants without a belt. Overall the youth attack pant did everything the adult attack pant is renowned for.
