We’ve come a long way since shopping animal print meant buying into animal cruelty. Major houses like Prada, Gucci, and Burberry have committed to the complete end of fur use in production, but despite the use of faux materials these days, that hasn’t stopped this aesthetic from falling in and out of favor. And not just because of its dark past.
Animal print has often been viewed as the height of garishness. It's one that screams '80s excess, Gianni Versace, and a holiday in Miami. But in a time when technical gear is absolutely everywhere, animal print could be received as a welcome antidote to anything labeled Gore-Tex. Tyler, the Creator and Travis Scott seem to agree.
