Born into a winemaking family, Palacios always knew he would continue on the family path. But after working at Chateau Petrus in Bordeaux, he knew he didn’t want to return to the family estate in Rioja. Instead, he went to one of the most remote, difficult terrains in Spain — Priorat!!!
It was a region that had fallen on hard times but Palacios knew the unique slate soils and old vines would make incredible wine. The quality of his Garnacha-based cuvées quickly drew attention to Priorat and now it’s not uncommon to hear Priorat mentioned in the same breath as Bordeaux!
The L’Ermita is the crowning jewel of the estate! Concentrated red and black berry fruits and roses fill your nose, while a powerful body with a silky texture envelops the palate! Only about 2,000 bottles are made each vintage — this is rare juice!
Único’s standout Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon cuvée took the world by storm when it was first released and has never relinquished its title as a top wine of the world! Its highly complex vinification and aging processes elevate it to a class all its own!
The wine goes through a loooonnnnggg maturation process—about 10 years. Then, onto the aging: new oak, neutral oak; American wood, French oak, glass bottle; large vats and small barrels. It sounds crazy but with one sip, you’ll agree it’s totally worth the wait!
