Today we acknowledge, honor and celebrate Juneteenth! For those that may not know, Juneteenth (which is a combination of "June" and "nineteenth") is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States.
On this day each year, Black Americans take time to honor the fight and efforts made by their ancestors through celebrations of Black music, food, storytelling, and culture. We must never forget that Black history is American history.
We encourage all of our non-Black audience members and customers to take a moment today (and the day after that, and the day after that, too) to do some research, check out new films & documentaries, and have effective, open & honest conversations about the history of Black folks in America.
