Welcome to our monthly newsletter — where we'll share oral health chatter, toothful tips and other tidbits you'll actually want to chew on, every. single. month. We want to e-quip you and your mouth for a better, healthier life. | If a river has a mouth… what would its teeth be? #brushingthoughts If a river has a mouth… what would its teeth be? #brushingthoughts It’s Earth Month, and we wanted to share how we’re considering the ecological impact of our business — and the size of your impact combined with every other quip brusher/flosser/swisher. Here’s one example: Last year, we started transitioning from plastic tubes to paper tubes for brush head refills. When you add up your four brush head refills, plus the refills of every other quip user, that adds up to reducing plastic waste that equals the weight of over 100 narwhals (including their abnormally huge teeth) every year. We’ve gathered more data on how much plastic we’re saving together with the Refillable Floss Pick, new Mouthwash, and the other packaging improvements we’ve made in the past year. There’s always more work to do — as we’re never satisfied with the status quo of oral care. In the next year, we’re focusing specifically on more packaging improvements and working with our suppliers to ensure raw materials are being sourced sustainably. Should you use mouthwash before or after flossing and brushing? Well, first off, mouthwash offers benefits that brushing and flossing can’t alone. Think of it as a way to fill in (and clear out) the gaps that are too small for your brush or floss to reach, after you’ve finished brushing and flossing. Also, while swishing water after brushing can wash away the fluoride from the toothpaste before it can fully protect your teeth (so… you shouldn’t rinse with water after you brush!), mouthwashes with fluoride are a tooth-friendly way to rinse post-brush, if you’re someone who likes to do that. Dentists also recommend that you avoid eating or drinking for 30 minutes after, which you should be doing anyway after brushing. Plus, we designed quip’s mouthwash to be stylish and sustainable, yet help strengthen your teeth and prevent tooth decay. A quip mouthwash swisher uses ~10x less plastic than someone using the leading brand, with a dispenser that’s meant to be used again and again and again. A s-wish come true. The quip Refillable Floss Pick has the convenience of a floss pick, but it’s reusable — so you’re not using single-use plastic every time you floss. Plus, new quip Mouthwash is making waves with its easy-to-use dispenser and 4x concentrate. |
